Bar & Bench bags inaugural Jethmalani Prize for Legal Journalism

The award instituted by the Sunday Guardian Foundation to honour the birth centenary year of veteran lawyer late Ram Jethmalani was presented by Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Bar & Bench on Friday emerged winner of the inaugural Jethmalani Prize for Legal Journalism under the Will of Steel Awards.

The award instituted by the Sunday Guardian Foundation to honour the birth centenary year of veteran lawyer late Ram Jethmalani was presented by Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, along with Rajya Sabha MPs Mahesh Jethmalani and Kartikey Sharma at a ceremony held in New Delhi.

The other nominees to the award were Apoorva Mandhani (Assistant Editor at The Print) and Sadaf Modak (Principal Correspondent at The Indian Express).

Pallavi Saluja, Editor-in-Chief of Bar & Bench, received the award on behalf of the team from Arjun Ram Meghwal. Also present on the platform were our Supreme Court correspondent, Debayan Roy, and Associate Editor (Legal), Aamir Khan.

The chief guest at the event was Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, who gave the keynote address.

The other speakers included Attorney General for India R Venkataramani, former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra Senior Advocates Fali Nariman and Shyam Divan and journalist S Gurumurthy.
