Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Hyderabad Partner Rahul Sarella has resigned

from the firm to set up his own practice. Sarella confirmed his decision to leave.

Cyril Amarchand Managing Partner Cyril Shroff told Bar & Bench,

“He is indeed moving on. It is a friendly exit. We as a firm are re-focusing our practice in Hyderabad to infrastructure and the opportunities arising from the bifurcation of the State. Harita Rao, our projects partner will be leading the office for now. As above, we are intending to refocus and grow the office.

We understand that Rahul is currently intending to run his own firm but his plans are yet shaping up. Depending upon how they do, we intend to use him for our litigation work. Rahul is and will continue to be a friend of the firm.

Sarella had joined Amarchand Mangaldas in 2013 replacing Anshuman Jaiswal, who relocated to the firm’s Mumbai office.

Sarella is a graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore and a Chevening Scholar. He has previously worked with Wadia Ghandy & Co for about seven years and KSB Partners for about four and a half years.

Harita Rao, who was made partner last year, will head the projects team in Hyderabad.

Sarella would be the tenth partner to leave the firm in a span of last two months. Last month Competition Partner Nisha Kaur Uberoi resigned from the firm but is still serving her notice period.

At the same time, the firm has also been hiring both in Delhi and Mumbai. Recently, AZB & Partners’ Senior Partner Percival Billimoria has joined the firm to head the firm’s Delhi office.
