Adding to the deluge of litigation assailing the conduct of this year’s Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2018), yet another petition has been filed, this time in the Calcutta High Court.

After hearing the petition today, Justice Protik Prakash Banerjee has passed an interim order directing the CLAT organizers not to publish any rank list till May 25, the next date of hearing.

The petition was filed on behalf of aspirants from Kolkata law coaching centre CLATapult, seeking a re-examination in lieu of the time lost by several students, on account of technical glitches that occurred in centres across the country.

Advocates Lokenath Chatterjee and Subhajit Das appeared for the petitioners before the Calcutta High Court.

Similar petitions calling for the re-conduct of CLAT 2018 have been filed in the High Courts of Delhi, Punjab & Haryana, both Benches of the Rajasthan High Court, the Madhya Pradesh High Court, the Karnataka High Court, and even the Supreme Court.

Today, the Supreme Court directed that a copy of the petition filed before it be served on the organizing university – National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), and the Central government. The matter will come up for hearing again tomorrow.

The first rank list for CLAT 2018 is scheduled to be released on May 31, as per the calendar on the CLAT website.
