Cyril Shroff wins ALB’s India Managing Partner award; Luthra wins India Energy Law Firm award

The ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2015 were held yesterday at Fullerton Hotel, Singapore, where the newly formed Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas was awarded the India Deal Firm of the Year.

The other two firms nominated in this category were Khaitan & Co and Luthra & Luthra.

Cyril Shroff also won the India Managing Partner of the Year, beating Rajiv Luthra and Shardul Shroff, the other nominees in this category.

Speaking to Bar & Bench on winning the Managing Partner award, Cyril Shroff commented,

“It was a humbling experience to receive the award. I was not expecting it.”

Luthra & Luthra won the India Energy and Resources Law Firm of the Year. The other two firms nominated in this category were Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. The Luthra Energy team is led by Partners Mohit Saraf, Sameen Vyas and Manmeet Singh.

JSA was nominated under the Asset and Corporate Finance Deal of the Year category for its ‘Unsecured Term Loan Facility to Tata Steel’ deal, while AZB & Partners and Talwar Thakore & Associates were nominated under the Debt Market Deal of the Year for ‘Abja Investment Co’s Issuance of Notes Guaranteed by Tata Steel’.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas was also nominated under both the Debt Market Deal of the Year and Equity Market Deal of the Year for ‘Greenko Group’s Issuance of Senior Secured Notes & INR Bonds’ and ‘Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India’s Sale of Shares in Axis Bank’ respectively.
