The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT)'s Jammu Bench has imposed costs of ₹10,000 on Senior Advocate Jahangir Ganai for appearing without uniform during virtual proceedings and making derogatory remarks "about the Court".

A Bench of Judicial Member Diwakar Singh and Administrative Member Ram Mohan Johri directed that the cost be deposited within a period of one week.

"He seems to be unapologetic for his appearance without uniform," the bench recorded in the order passed on October 7.

According to the order, Ganai initially appeared through audio mode and began making submissions without switching on his video.

After repeated requests, he switched on the video, revealing he was not in uniform.

Senior Advocate Abhinav Sharma assisted by advocate Vishal Sharma appeared for the applicant.

Additional Advocate General Rajesh Thappa appeared for the State.

Senior Advocate Pawan Kundal with advocate Jagdeep Kour and Senior Advocate Jahangir Ganai also appeared for the respondents.
