Centre clears appointment of Six Additional Judges to Punjab and Haryana High Court

The Centre has cleared the appointment of six Additional Judges to the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.

As per a notification issued today, the following names have been cleared for appointment as Additional High Court judges.

  • Ashok Kumar Verma
  • Sant Parkash
  • Meenakshi I. Mehta
  • Karamjit Singh
  • Vivek Puri
  • Archana Puri

They have been appointed for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices, in the order of seniority.

The six names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in September, this year.  With their appointment, the working strength of the High Court rises to 56 against a sanctioned strength of 85 judges.

Recently, Jasgurpreet Singh Puri was also appointed as an Additional Judge in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana
