Centre notifies transfer of Justice H G Ramesh to Madhya Pradesh HC

Aditi

Pursuant to the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium passed earlier this month, the Central Government has notified the transfer of Justice Huluvadi Gangadharappa Ramesh, Judge of the Madras High Court to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

As per the Government of India notification dated November 8, 2018, Justice Ramesh would assume charge of his office in the Madhya Pradesh High Court on or before November 22, 2018.

Interestingly, Justice Ramesh had earlier requested the Supreme Court Collegium that he either be retained in the Madras High Court, or that he be considered for appointment as a Chief Justice in any state, including Tamil Nadu.  However, the Collegium declined to accede to either request.

Justice Ramesh has served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court twice, the last such stint being between August 7 to August 11 this year, until the appointment of present Chief Justice, VK Tahilramani.
