The Collegium of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices J Chelameswar and Ranjan Gogoi met to consider whether eleven additional judges of the Rajasthan High Court ought to be made permanent.

In light of the fact that KC Sharma J was going to attain superannuation soon, the Collegium considered only his case for the time being.

After inputs from the High Court collegium as well as Supreme Court judges conversant with the affairs of the Rajasthan High Court, the Collegium decided to recommend KC Sharma J to be made permanent. It also deemed the complaints against the additional judge as “either frivolous and shorn of merit”.

Should the recommendation be accepted, Justice Sharma will only spend a few days as a permanent judge, given the fact that he retires on January 1, 2018. The recommendation from the High Court to make him permanent came back in July this year.

Justice Sharma was elevated as an additional judge in April 2016. Prior to that, he was an Additional District & Sessions Judge at Kota, Ratangarh and Bikaner, and a Special Judge of the NDPS Court in Ganganagar.
