Collegium recommends Advocate Rajesh Kumar Bhardwaj for appointment as P&H HC judge

A Collegium Statement to this effect was issued on Monday.

The Supreme Court Collegium has proposed the elevation of Advocate Rajesh Kumar Bhardwaj as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The recommendation was made following a Collegium meeting held yesterday, as per a Collegium Statement.

It states,

"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 17th August, 2020, has approved the proposal for elevation of Shri Rajesh Kumar Bhardwaj, Advocate, as Judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court."

If his appointment as a judge is cleared by the Central Government, the working strength of the High Court will rise to 56 judges against a sanctioned strength of 85 judges.
