Collegium reiterates making 3 Additional Judges permanent in Chhattisgarh HC

The Supreme Court Collegium has reiterated its recommendation to appoint three Additional Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court as permanent Judges.

Reiterating its recommendations made in the resolution dated April 8, 2019, the Collegium today proposed to appoint three Additional Judges as Permanent namely,

  1. Justice Sharad Kumar
  2. Justice Ram Prasanna Sharma
  3. Justice Arvind Singh Chandel

These names were proposed by the Collegium of the Chhattisgarh High Court in January 2019 and approved by the Supreme Court Collegium in April 2019. However, the recommendations were referred back to the Supreme Court for reconsideration.

The term of these Judges as Additional Judges was recommended to be extended for a period of six months starting June 2019 when the reconsideration of their proposal was deferred by the Supreme Court Collegium.

Today, the Collegium has resolved to reiterate its recommendation after taking into consideration all the relevant material on record and the report submitted by the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court in this regard.
