Aditi

Condemning the murder of the first woman Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council Darvesh Yadav, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has resolved to observe one-day mourning in Uttar Pradesh on June 13, 2019.

As per the BCI release, the advocates fraternity in Uttar Pradesh has been taken aback by the incident and is in shock.

Meanwhile, the Ghaziabad Bar Association, as well as the Uttar Pradesh Tax Bar Association, have also called for abstention from work on June 13.

Yadav was reportedly shot dead by a fellow advocate earlier today.

She was shot by one advocate Manish inside the Agra district court premises. Yadav, who assumed charge as Chairperson of the UP Bar Council two days ago, was attending a welcome ceremony when the incident happened.

Later, the assailant shot himself and has been admitted in the hospital.
