A Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) court on Wednesday remanded Cockroach Janta Part (CJP) activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to judicial custody for 5 days.

Das, Ranka along with another CJP activist Ajinkya Shinde were detained by the Delhi Police on October 13 after allegedly entering the barricaded Jantar Mantar site by climbing its gates.

The CJP activists took the action a day after Jantar Mantar was de-notified as the designated protest site.

While Das and Ranka were remanded to judicial custody today, Shinde was released.

Notably, the CJP has been protesting alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
