The Delhi High Court recently granted bail to a man who was accused of attacking his wife at the premises of a court they had visited to attend a hearing in a matrimonial dispute.
The attack allegedly occurred after an altercation broke out between the couple at the court premises in January 2025.
The accused man was arrested the same day, after an attempt to murder case was registered on the wife's complaint.
The matrimonial proceedings initiated by the wife were eventually withdrawn.
Further, during a hearing of the accused man's bail plea, his wife told Justice Mini Pushkarna that she no longer wishes to pursue the criminal case against her husband.
The wife stated that she has started visiting her husband’s family and wanted to resume cohabitation with her husband when he is released from jail.
"She, thus, submits that she wishes to resume her matrimonial life in a peaceful manner," the Court noted.
In view of these submissions, the State too expressed that it is not objecting the accused man's bail plea.
The Court, therefore, allowed his release on bail on certain conditions, by a September 23 order.
It also directed the investigating officer to continue monitoring the situation and carry out necessary inquiries if any further complaint is made.
"The IO is directed to monitor the situation and, in the event of any complaint being made, to inquire into the same in accordance with law," the Court said.
Advocates Pawan Mehta, Kanav Bhatta, Lalit Kashyap and Nitin Bhardwaj appeared for the accused husband.
Public Prosecutor Shoaib Haider appeared for the State.
