The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on a plea filed by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav challenging the trial court decision to frame money laundering charges against him in the alleged IRCTC money laundering case.
Justice Sachin Datta said that Yadav can also seek an adjournment before the trial court.
The case is listed before the trial court on October 30. The High Court will hear the matter next on December 3.
Special Judge (PC Act) Vishal Gogne of the Rouse Avenue courts on September 10 framed charges against Yadav and his family members -- Tejaswi Yadav and Rabri Devi - and several others.
On October 13, 2025, the Court had charged Lalu Yadav and others with the offences of corruption, criminal conspiracy and cheating in this case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that Yadav and his family accepted prime land and shares as bribes for awarding contracts to a private firm while he was the Union Railway Minister.
As per the allegations, during Yadav's tenure as Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009, two IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri were given on lease to a company named Sujata Hotels through a manipulated tender process. In return, land worth crores was transferred to a company allegedly linked to Lalu’s wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav at a fraction of its market value.
Based on the CBI's FIR, the ED later registered a PMLA case against Lalu Yadav and his family.
The Yadav family has questioned the probe and said that there was no evidence against them. They have maintained that the case is politically motivated.
Senior Advocates Kapil Sibal and Maninder Singh along with advocates Varun Jain, Navin Kumar, Sumit Singh, Satish Kumar and Khusboo Singh appeared for Lalu Yadav.
