DLA India Co-head, Biswajit Chatterjee moves to Squire Patton Boggs to head corporate practice in SE Asia

Biswajit Chatterjee, Partner and global co-head of DLA Piper’s India practice, has left the firm to join Squire Patton Boggs in Singapore. He will be leading the firm’s India practice alongside London Partner, Dharmendra Nair.

Biswajit joined DLA in 2008 from Allen & Overy and was made a Partner in 2011. He was made India head in 2013 along with Munich-based Daniel Sharma. Following Biswajit’s departure, Daniel will continue to head the India practice for DLA.

Chatterjee is dual qualified to practice in New York and India. A graduate of National Law School India University, Bangalore, Biswajit focuses on corporate finance, capital markets, and private equity and M&A transactions.

Ignatius Hwang, Managing Partner of Squire Patton Boggs in Singapore, in the release said, “As part of the firm’s Asia Pacific strategy it has been our goal to grow the Singapore office …We have been looking for some time to find the right person to spearhead our corporate practice in South East Asia.”

“Biswajit will provide an additional India-outbound dimension to our corporate practice, as well as adding a US securities law and capital markets capability in Singapore”, commented Stephen Chelberg, Asia Pacific Chair of the Global Corporate Practice.
