DMD Advocates hires ELP’s Anay Banhatti as Partner in Mumbai

Former Economic Laws Practice partner Anay Banhatti has joined DMD Advocates as a taxation partner at the firm’s Mumbai office.

Anay Banhatti is a graduate of ILS Law College. After graduating, he joined ELP, where he worked for almost twelve years.

His area of focus has been indirect taxation – Customs, GST, Excise, Service tax, Sales tax and Foreign Trade Policy. He has regularly represented clients in litigation under various tax laws across all adjudicatory/ assessment authorities, appellate authorities, before the Tribunals, High Courts and the Supreme Court.

Banhatti has extensively advised and assisted clients in strategizing the approach to be adopted on Customs valuation related issues and represented clients in proceedings before the relevant authorities, tribunals and Courts. More recently, he has led diverse GST assignments including impact analysis, transition support and government advocacy (representation) for clients in variety of sectors.

Commenting on the move, DMD Founder and Managing Partner Fereshte Sethna said,
