Trilegal has promoted three of its Counsels – Kunaal Shah, Nikhil Narendran and Vaibhav Kothari to equity partnership across Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi. This takes the total number of partners at the firm to 35.

Kunaal joined Trilegal in 2013 from Talwar Thakore & Associates, where he worked for over 5 years. He has also worked at Desai & Diwanji before joining TT&A.

Nikhil Narendran is part of the TMT & general corporate team in Bangalore. He has worked on spectrum management, resale, MPLS services, voice services, intermediary liability etc.

A graduate of NUALS, Nikhil initially worked at ARA Law before joining Trilegal in 2008.

Vaibhav Kothari is in the firm’s Delhi office and is part of the Corporate practice group. He joined Trilegal in 2015 along with Partner Ravindra Bandhakavi from Amarchand Mangaldas.

The new entrants come at at time, when co-founder Anand Prasad has announced his intention to leave the firm. Anand is looking to set up an independent counsel practice, and pursue a career in politics.

Trilegal is not the only Indian law firm to expand its equity pool. Yesterday, Khaitan & Co promoted 20 lawyers to partnership, out which 12 have been made equity partners.
