Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal of the Delhi High Court will speak at the Summit of Judges and Prosecutors on Human Trafficking and Organized Crime at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, The Vatican.

Mittal J. was invited by Pope Francis and will be among the 67 women to speak at the Summit. She is expected to deliver her speech on November 10 at 9.15 am. She is the only speaker from India.

The summit is being held under the conviction that modern slavery, in the forms of forced labour, prostitution and organ trafficking, is a crime against humanity and must be recognised as such, following numerous requests and definitions by Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI.

The judges and prosecutors participating in the summit will share their experiences, propose new models and assess existing ones to combat human trafficking.
