HSA Advocates makes Nilesh Chandra Associate Partner; Promotes Avirup Nag to partnership

HSA Advocates recently promoted Associate Partner Avirup Nag to partnership and Senior Associate Nilesh Chandra to Associate Partner level, taking the total number of Associate Partners and Partners at the firm to 17.

Avirup, who is part of the firm’s Infrastructure and Energy practice group, joined the firm last year in December from Trilegal.

He is a graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore. He initially worked at Trilegal and ICICI Bank before moving to Europe for further studies in 2007.

Avirup did his LL.M (European Masters in Law and Economics) under the European Union Erasmus Mundus programme from the University of Hamburg and the University of Vienna. After this, he joined Herbert Smith Freehills where he worked for about two years before moving back to India.

Nilesh is part of the firm’s Banking and Project Finance practice group. A graduate of Campus Law Center, Delhi University, Nilesh joined the firm in 2012 from MV Kini & Co. He worked at MV Kini for about four years. Prior to that he has also worked with Phoenix Legal and Lex Counsel Law Offices.

Earlier this year, Trilegal Counsel Sakya Singha Chaudhuri had joined join HSA as a Partner in the firm’s Infrastructure, Projects and Regulatory team. Before that, Abeezar E. Faizullabhoy had joined as an Equity Partner in its Mumbai office.
