The Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access (IDIA) dedicated to making law schools more inclusive, will be hosting a charity football league tournament to raise money for the IDIA scholars.

The tournament to be hosted at Kamala Mills Ground, Mumbai on September 6-7, will see 16 teams, comprising lawyers from law firms and corporate houses, sweating it out to raise money for the IDIA scholars.

To make the event exciting, each game will last around 15 minutes, with no “off-side rule” in play. The two-day tournament will be followed by an award ceremony and a fundraising evening.

“This is our very first venture into a sports tournament. We hope that it will be a fun event, showcase some serious talent within the legal fraternity and help gather much needed funds for our kids at the various law schools,” said Professor Shamnad Basheer, the Founder and Managing Trustee of IDIA.

Ritvik Lukose, Co-Founder of Vahura said, “Accessing quality legal education is like trying to play golf. You need to be part of a special club and have a lot of money. IDIA is changing the game for aspiring lawyers from less privileged backgrounds.”

As of now, Bharucha & Partners, Fortitude Law Associates, J. Sagar Associates, K Law, Khaitan & Co, Luthra & Luthra, Trilegal and Wadia Ghandy & Co. have confirmed their participation.
