BMR Legal has hired J. Sagar Associates’ former partner Kaushik Mukherjee as Partner in its Mumbai office to develop the firm’s capital markets practice.
This development was first reported by Bar & Bench in September this year with JSA Partner Somasekhar Sundaresan commenting,
“Kaushik will be moving on to a new opening in another firm. We wish him the best”.
In 2013, the same year that founding Partner Jyoti Sagar retired, Kaushik was one of 16 lawyers who were made Partner. A former lawyer at White & Case, Mukherjee worked for six years at AZB & Partners before making the shift to JSA.
In the firm’s press release BMR Legal’s Mukesh Butani stated that,
“We are… confident that his presence will lend impetus to the firm’s goal to be amongst the leading transaction advisory law firms.“
Amit Khansaheb, a former Desai and Dewanji Partner who joined BMR Legal in the January of 2013, commented,
“The firm has excelled over the past few years in the area of corporate M&A and private equity and Kaushik’s entry will further strengthen our ability to provide more wide ranging services to clients”
With this hire, the total number of partners at the firm rises to 6, with two Partners each in the firm’s Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore offices.
