One day after Bangalore lawyers suspended their hunger strike, the Centre has notified the appointment of five additional judges for Karnataka High Court.

The five new judges are:

  1. Dixit Krishna Shripad,
  2. Shankar Ganapathi Pandit,
  3. Ramakrishna Devdas
  4. Bhotanhosur Mallikarjuna Shyam Prasad,
  5. Siddappa Sunil Dutt Yadav

Krishna Dixit is the Additional Solicitor General of India in the Karnataka High Court, while R Devdas and BM Shyam Prasad are Senior Advocates.

S Sunil Dutt Yadav, a 1996 graduate of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, is the second NLSIU alumnus to be elevated to a high court, after Shekhar Bobby Saraf last year.

Last year, the Supreme Court collegium had also recommended C Saravanan to be appointed as a judge of the Madras High Court. However, his appointment is yet to be notified.

Yadav will be the first NLSIU graduate to be appointed as a judge of the Karnataka High Court.
