Khaitan & Co. has recently hired Anindita Phukan (pictured) as Partner in its Bangalore office to strengthen its corporate and M&A practice. Anindita has been managing her own law office, Phukan & Associates, over the past year and will be merging her practice with the firm’s Bangalore office.

Speaking to Bar & Bench Anindita said, “I think this is going to be a great opportunity because the vision of the Bangalore office in particular is that we need to consolidate and expand. With my background in corporate laws specifically in M&A and foreign investment areas, I hope I will be able to contribute towards that vision and make Khaitan & Co. Bangalore office one of the best law firms in Bangalore”.

Anindita graduated from National Law School of India University Bangalore in 1996 and joined ICICI Bank. She later moved to J. Sagar Associates and worked there for about four years. She worked with AZB & Partner for a short while before joining Poovayya & Co. as a Partner in 2004.

Anindita after working with Poovayya for almost six years decided to start her own practice.

Partner Rabindra Jhunjhunwala in a statement said, “On behalf of the firm, I am delighted to welcome Anindita to the team in Bangalore. Her corporate law experience strengthens our Bangalore office capability. We are confident that the work Anindita undertakes will not only help maintain the firm’s momentum, but build on its rapidly increasing reputation”.

Anindita has around 15 years of experience in advising clients and specializes in corporate and commercial laws with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, foreign inward and outbound investments and technology and media.

Khaitan Bangalore office now has four partners. In May, Khaitan & Co. had hired co-founder of PAV Law Offices, Abhilekh Verma as Partner in its Bangalore office.
