As announced earlier, Khaitan & Co has hired a total of 49 fresh graduates from as many as 20 law schools across the country.

The on-boarding process was done through digital means. The batch of 2020 hires will join the firm on October 12.

33 of these hires were made through pre-placement offers (PPOs). The fresh hires reflect a healthy gender ratio of 25 females to 24 males.

The firm has hired 6 graduates each from Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) Sonepat, and West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) Kolkata. 5 graduates each have been hired from National Law Institute University (NLIU) Bhopal and National Law University, Jodhpur. 3 hires each were made from National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad; National Law University, Delhi; and Symbiosis, Pune.

Here is a break-up of the hires from each law school:

Break-up of Khaitan fresher hires for 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Khaitan had earlier announced that it would induct fresh graduates to the firm in October. The main reasons for postponing the joining date of freshers was the difficulty in inducting and bringing them into the firm in a 'work from home' environment.

Executive Director of the firm Amar Sinhji had said back in May,

"Our campus batch usually joins in July every year. This year, given the exceptional circumstances around the lockdown and the uncertainties with regard to offices being able to return to normal operations, we have decided to push back the freshers joining date to October 2020. We are at this stage in talks with various campuses to finalise the exact schedule. We hope that by October we should be ready with a welcome befitting our young future leaders! And of course, we will honour every campus offer that has been made. The campus hires are a key entry level addition to our talent pipeline."
