Kiran Desai has been promoted to Vice President - India General Counsel at Netflix, he took to LinkedIn to share the news of his promotion.
Prior to his promotion, Desai was General Counsel and Senior Director - Business and Legal Affairs at Netflix India. In this capacity, he was instrumental in initiatives such as "The Voicebox," a program launched in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) to train voice-over artists across various Indian languages.
Desai holds an LL.B from Government Law College, Mumbai, and an LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington D.C. He is also admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
Before joining Netflix, he was the Managing Partner at Desai & Partners, a Mumbai-based law firm specializing in media and entertainment law, where he advised celebrities, sports personalities, and production houses. His expertise spans intellectual property, licensing, regulatory compliance, and commercial negotiations, making him a key figure in shaping legal frameworks for digital content in India.
