IP Firm Lall & Sethi is representing Kraft Foods in its suit against Britannia. US Food company is suing Nusli Wadia controlled Britannia over copyright violations of the Oreo cookies.
IP Firm Lall & Sethi team is headed by Managing Partner Chander M. Lall and is assisted by Associate Ekta Sarin.
ET reported that the US firm has also sought an injunction to prevent Britannia from manufacturing, selling, marketing or advertising any product with any distinctive element of Oreo cookies. Kraft has sought damages for infringement of trademark and copyright, passing off and unfair competition of its ‘globally reputed’ Oreo brand of cookies.
Chander M. Lall and Kraft in-house counsel Anita Singh did not comment on the case, as the matter is sub-judice.
According to Lords of IPR article published by Business World in August 2010, Lall & Sethi is a 20-lawyer firm with has clients like Warner Bros Group and Twentieth Century Fox.
The Delhi High Court as of now has not listed the case, and Britannia is yet to appoint its lawyers.
