Justice Gita Mittal appointed Chairperson of Broadcasting Content Complaints Council

BCCC is an independent self-regulatory body set up by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation for non-news, general entertainment channels.

Former Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) High Court, Justice Gita Mittal has been appointed Chairperson of Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC).

BCCC is an independent self-regulatory body set up by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) in June 2011 for non-news, general entertainment channels.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India refers the complaints received/generated by it to BCCC for its inputs.

BCCC also provides inputs to the Ministry of I&B for responding to questions put up by the Members of Parliament.

After being sworn in as the first female Chief Justice of J&K High Court in August 2018, Justice Mittal demitted office last year in December.

Before her elevation as Chief Justice of J&K High Court, she had served as judge of the Delhi High Court since 2004 and also went on to serve as its acting Chief Justice.
