A new Academic Council has been appointed for the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore.

The Council will function as the regulatory body for academic issues, the maintenance of standards of instruction, education, and examination at the University.

The members are appointed for a three-year term. The Academic Council now comprises 24 members - including five Supreme Court judges, one former Karnataka High Court judge, four members of the Bar Council of India (BCI), an advocate representing the state government, the Vice-Chancellor, and faculty members of NLSIU.

Advocate Aruna Shyam M has been appointed as the government representative for the new Academic Council. The Karnataka government nominated him to the Council for a three-year term starting from January 21, 2020.
