RGNUL initiates removal of 'Rajiv Gandhi' from name to become National Law University, Punjab

The proposal awaits approval from the Executive Council and the State government.

The Academic Council of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab has initiated a move to change the name of the University to National Law University, Punjab.

The decision of the Academic Council reads,

"The Academic Council considered the said recommendations in depth and after due deliberations, agreed with the proposal of the Dean (Academic) to change the name of the University from "Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab" to "National Law University, Punjab".

Further, recommended to the Executive Council for approval."

The clipping has been signed by RGNUL Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) S Jai Shankar and Registrar Dr Ivneet Kaur Walia.

Speaking with Bar & Bench, Dr Walia verified the authenticity of the document and said that the move is awaiting the decision of the Executive Council

The RGNUL Academic Council comprises 12 members including 4 RGNUL faculty members, the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and others.
