[BREAKING] Central govt notifies appointment of 5 Additional Judges to Calcutta High Court [Read Notification]

The five persons appointed are Kesang Doma Bhutia, Rabindranath Samanta, Sugato Majumdar, Bivas Pattanayak and Ananda Kumar Mukherjee.

The Central government has notified the appointment of five persons as additional judges of Calcutta High Court.

The five persons appointed are

Kesang Doma Bhutia,

Rabindranath Samanta,

Sugato Majumdar,

Bivas Pattanayak and

Ananda Kumar Mukherjee.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (1) Miss Kesang Doma Bhutia, S/Shri (2) Rabindranath Samanta, (3) Sugato Majumdar, (4) Bivas Pattanayak, and (5) Ananda Kumar Mukherjee, to be Additional Judges of the Calcutta High Court, in that order of seniority," the notification issued by Additional Secretary to Government of India, Rajinder Kashyap said.

While Sugato Majumdar, and Bivas Pattanayak have been appointed for a period of two years, the other persons have been given shorter tenures.

Kesang Doma Bhutia has been given a tenure of little over 9 months till May 4, 2022.

Rabindranath Samanta has been appointed till June 23, 2023 while Ananda Kumar Mukherjee has been given a tenure till August 4, 2022.
