[Covid-19] Calcutta High Court extends life of interim orders till September 15, 2021

Considering the extension of restrictions due to Covid-19 in the State, the Court decided to extend the life of interim orders.

The Calcutta High Court on Friday extended the life of interim orders passed by the High Court as well as subordinate courts and tribunals in State of West Bengal and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands till September 15, 2021.

A Bench of acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justices IP Mukerji, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen, and Subrata Talukdar passed the order in a suo motu petition initiated by the Court on extension of protection to those who are unable to access justice due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

In view of the extension of restrictions relating to the Covid-19 pandemic by the Government of West Bengal till August 30, 2021, we extend the interim orders passed in this Writ Petition till September 15, 2021,” the order said.

The Court directed that the order be published on the High Court website and be communicated to subordinate courts and tribunals.

The order also directed that the same be notified to the Advocate General, Additional Solicitor General, Presidents and Secretaries of the three wings of the Bar and be circulated among lawyers, litigants and other interested parties.
