Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of 5 new judges to Gauhati High Court

The Gauhati High Court is functioning with four vacancies. It has a working strength of 20 as against a sanctioned strength of 24.

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of three lawyers and 2 judicial officers as judges of Gauhati High Court.

The decision was taken by the Collegium in a meeting held on September 1.

The lawyers recommended are:

1. Kakheto Sema

2. Devashis Baruah, and

3. Arun Dev Choudhury

The judicial officers recommended are:

1. Malasri Nandi, and

2. Marli Vankung

The Gauhati High Court is functioning with four vacancies. It has a working strength of 20 as against a sanctioned strength of 24.
