Swami Chakrapani sought directions to the Central government to provide him Z+ category security.

Swami Chakrapani has moved Delhi High Court seeking Z+ category security on the ground that he has threat to life from underworld don Dawood Ibrahim (Swami Chakrapani v UOI).

In his plea, Chakrapani contended that his security was reduced from Z+ category to X category without assigning any reasons.

It is the case of Chakrapani that he was granted Z+ security by the Centre in 2015 after he had received death threats from Dawood Ibrahim whose properties he had purchased at an auction.

In 2021, the Z+ security was diminished to X category.

Subsequently, he again received threat from Dawood Ibrahim that he will be killed.

"This level of security provided to me is absolutely inadequate, I have grave threat to life," counsel for Chakrapani submitted.

Advocate Ajay Digpaul appearing on behalf of Centre informed the court that security is provided based on an assessment carried out by the Commissioner of Police.

The matter was listed before single-judge Justice Rekha Palli, who adjourned the matter on request of counsel for October 5.
