Vivek Kohli appointed Senior Advocate by Sikkim High Court [Read Notification]

A notification to this effect was issued on December 10. Last year, he was appointed the Advocate General for Sikkim.

The High Court of Sikkim on December 10 designated advocate Vivek Kohli as a Senior Advocate, invoking its powers under Section 16 (2) of the Advocates' Act.

A notification issued to this effect stated:

"In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 16 (2) of the Advocates Act, 1961, the High Court of Sikkim is pleased to designate Mr Vivek Kohli as Senior Advocate with immediate effect."

Vivek Kohli has been in legal practice since 1991. He obtained his law degree from Delhi University. He also holds a BSc in Mathematics from St Stephens College, Delhi.

He co-founded ZEUS Law, in which he is a Senior Partner. He has experience in dealing with matters relating to Constitutional law, General and Civil Law, laws relation to Power including the Electricity Act, Arbitration and Alternate Dispute Resolution, FEMA, Export-Import Policy and Indirect taxation among other subjects.

Among other contributions, Kohli has assisted the Government of India in framing “Border Protection Measures” under the TRIPPS agreement and “The Rules of Refund of Anti-Dumping Duty”. He is credited to have drafted the first ever Distribution License, issued by the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission under the Electricity Act of 2003 for Delhi.

Last year, he was appointed the Advocate General for Sikkim.
