L&S opens first international office in Geneva; Joint Partner, Atul Sharma to head new office

Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (L&S) opened an office in Geneva, the firm’s first outside India, on September 5, 2014. In doing so, the firm becomes the first Asian law firm to establish an office in Geneva, according to the firm. The new office is located at Avenue Giuseppe Motta in Les Nations.

LKS Delhi Joint Partner Atul Sharma will be relocating to Geneva to head the Geneva office along with Principal Associate Adarsh Ramanujan.

Both Atul and Adarsh are graduates of National Law University, Jodhpur. Atul has been working with LKS since 2006. He also holds an LL.M. from New York University School of Law while Adarsh did his LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Delhi Partner Seetharaman Sampat in the release said, “The new office will focus on legal services relating to World Trade Organization (WTO) laws particularly dispute resolution at the WTO Dispute Settlement Body, public international laws, and laws of the World Customs Organization (WCO).”

The office will also provide legal services relating to European trade remedy laws i.e. antidumping, subsidies and safeguards. In addition the European clients could also obtain legal services from the Geneva office relating to Indian corporate, intellectual property and taxation laws, according to the firm release.
