Luthra & Luthra hires ex-Metropolitan Magistrate, DJS topper Bharat Chugh as Counsel

In a relatively uncommon move, Luthra & Luthra has hired a former member of the Delhi Judicial Services, Bharat Chugh, as Counsel in the firm’s Delhi office.

Chugh, who was posted as Metropolitan Magistrate as per the firm’s press release, is a 2011 graduate of from the Faculty of Law at Jamia Millia Islamia.

He was appointed as MM in 2013, after topping the Delhi Judicial Services selection process.

According to this interview on SuperLawyer, it was his desire to return to the practice of law that led him to leave the judiciary.

“All in all, after a three and a half year, and a rather fulfilling stint at judging, I decided to once again return to the practice of law. I sorely missed being able to practice law in the last three and a half years. Once a lawyer, always a lawyer as they say!”
