Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP has recently hired Sanjeet Malik (pictured) as Of Counsel in its Hong Kong office to enhance its India and Asian M&A practices. He was previously working as an Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.

Malik is a graduate of Cornell Law School and he received an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Waterloo (Canada).

Malik will coordinate Milbank’s India practice and handle cross-border transactions and will work closely with Anthony Root, Managing Partner of Milibank’s Hong Kong and Beijing offices along with David Zemans, Managing Partner of Singapore office.

Mel Immergut, Milbank’s Chairman in the press release said, “Sanjeet has been widely recognized as a rising star in the Asia private equity and corporate market, and we are delighted to have him join us. We look forward to leveraging his in-depth knowledge of the Indian and Asian markets and anticipate that this will allow us to continue to expand our services to meet the growing needs of our India and Asia clients”.

Glenn S. Gerstell, head of Milibank’s India Practice said, “We have seen an increased amount of work coming out of India. Since foreign law firms are not authorized to have an office there, we needed to build our resources nearby to meet the demands of our clients – whether companies located in India or strategic or financial investors outside of the country.  The addition of Sanjeet to our Hong Kong office strengthens our capabilities in the region and will help us refine our focus on India”.
