NLU Jodhpur gets new Vice Chancellor; DU’s Prof. Poonam Saxena to head the institution

Professor Poonam Saxena at Delhi University’s Law Centre has been appointed as the next Vice Chancellor at the National Law University, Jodhpur (NLU-J). Sources at NLU-J have confirmed the appointment, indicating that an official communication to Prof. Saxena shall be dispatched soon.

Justice Mathur, a former judge of the High Court of Rajasthan, took over as Vice Chancellor five years ago, taking over the reins from Dr. AK Koul in 2008. In an interview with Bar & Bench, he remarked that students from NLU-J tend to be more “organized and trustworthy”.

Prof. Poona Saxena, who specializes in Family Law, completed her law degrees (LL.B. and LL.M) from Delhi University and went on to do a PhD on “Succession Laws” from Delhi University. She has been teaching at the Faculty of Law since 1982 and was appointed as Professor in 2004.
