S&R Associates’ Bhakta Patnaik will join Trilegal to lead its capital markets

practice. It was earlier reported by Bar & Bench that Bhakta would most likely join Trilegal.

The appointment will help Trilegal develop a strong capital markets offering, according to the firm’s release

Karan Singh, member of the management committee of the firm comments:

“Bhakta is an excellent lawyer who has built a formidable reputation in the market.  He will add depth and value to the firm’s overall practice offering. His appointment comes at a time when the Indian market is embracing REITS and INVITS and Bhakta’s international experience with these products will help us support our clients better.

Trilegal has been attracting the best talent in the market and Bhakta’s appointment reinforces that trend.”

Bhakta is the first ever partner to resign from S&R Associates. A graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Bhakta was made Partner at S&R in 2012.

Bhakta was previously with Linklaters in Singapore, where he worked for almost 5 years. He has also worked at the Delhi office of the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas.

Trilegal has also hired Sohrab Khushrushahi  as Counsel in the capital markets team. Sohrab has previously worked at Talwar Thakore & Associates and Linklaters.
