[Exclusive]: Padmaja Chakravarty is the new Citi India General Counsel

Padmaja Chakravarty has been appointed as General Counsel for Citi India, according to sources. Padmaja replaces Pramod Rao, who is leaving Citi to join ICICI as Group General Counsel.

Padmaja will move to Mumbai from Hong Kong, where she has been the Head of Capital Markets Origination Legal for the Asia Pacific Region at Citi since 2016.

She joined Citi in 2012 and worked as Director & Deputy General Counsel – Investment Banking, Capital Markets Origination & Public Markets.

She has previously worked in the London offices of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and Linklaters LLP.

Padmaja is a 2004 graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She also holds a Bachelors of Civil Law from St Anne’s College, University of Oxford.
