S&R Associates promotes Bhakta Patnaik and Venkatesh Vijayaraghavan to Partnership

S & R Associates has recently promoted Bhakta Patnaik (pictured left) and Venkatesh Vijayaraghavan (pictured right) to partnership. The partnership is effective from June 1, 2012. Bhakta is based in the firm’s Mumbai office while Venkatesh is based in Delhi. Both are alumni of National Law school of India University, Bangalore, batch of 2002.

Bhakta has previously worked with Linklaters in Singapore, where he worked for almost 5 years. He has also worked at the Delhi office of Amarchand & Mangaldas.

His areas of practice include capital markets (debt, equity and equity-linked securities), mergers and acquisitions, corporate and debt restructuring and liability management and general corporate matters.   

Venkatesh received graduate law degrees from the University of Oxford (where he was a Felix Scholar) and Columbia University School of Law (where he was the Appel Fellow on the Regulation of the Multinational Enterprise and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar).

Prior to joining S&R, Venkatesh was a Corporate Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York and before that he was a law clerk to the former Chief Justice of India, B.N. Kirpal.  He has also briefly worked at the Mumbai office of Amarchand & Mangaldas.

His areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, private equity, joint ventures and general corporate matters.

S&R Associates has 40 lawyers, including seven partners, across its New Delhi and Mumbai offices.
