SC Collegium remits two names recommended for elevation to Madhya Pradesh HC [Read Resolution]

Bar & Bench

The Supreme Court Collegium has remitted the names of two Judicial Officers recommended for elevation to the Madhya Pradesh High Court. A resolution intimating the same was passed on February 12, 2019.

The two Judicial Officers who were proposed for elevation to the High Court Bench were Rajendra Prasad Sharma and Rajesh Gupta

The Madhya Pradesh High Court had proposed their names for elevation in April last year, along with three other names. In October, when the Supreme Court Collegium took up these names for consideration, the decision on the proposed elevation of these two Judicial Officers was deferred.

However, the Supreme Court Collegium has now concluded that their names deserve to be remitted, having regard to the material examined, including the observations of the Department of Justice. Accordingly, the Collegium resolution states,

Having regard to all relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that the proposal for elevation of S/Shri (1) Rajendra Prasad Sharma, and (2) Rajesh Gupta, Judicial Officers deserves to be remitted to the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The Collegium resolves to recommend accordingly.
