Senior Advocate Firoz Edulji passed away in Kolkata on Monday following health complications.

Edulji had began his legal practice in 1997. He was a senior lawyer at the Calcutta High Court and an alumnus of the National Law School of India University. He had over two decades of experience at the Bar and was known for handling several significant cases.

Edulji was recently part of the legal team representing the victim’s family in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Abhaya case. He argued the case before the Calcutta High Court as well as the Supreme Court of India seeking relief for the family.

Edulji appeared in several prominent cases during his career, including the Bogtui violence and Kamduni matters. The Bogtui case had later gained national attention after the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

He was also associated with the Orthodox Parsi Zoroastrian community and served as President of the Parsi Zoroastrian Association of Kolkata.
