Congress Member of Parliament (MP) Shashi Tharoor has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights.

Justice Mini Pushkarna is scheduled to hear the matter on May 8 (Friday).

Tharoor joins the long list of actors, cricketers and other notable personalities who have approached the High Court in recent years over their personality and public rights.

Earlier, actors such as Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan have secured injunctions against unauthorised use of their name, voice, image and likeness, particularly in advertisements, merchandise and AI-generated content.

Tharoor has alleged misuse of his name, likeness and personality. He has sought relief against several defendants, including unknown parties (John Doe defendants).

He has also sought the removal of several deepfakes and AI-morphed content.

The suit has been filed through law firm Trilegal.
