Six additional judges of Karnataka High Court made permanent

The Central government has issued a notification to this effect on September 6, 2021.

The Central government has notified the appointment of six additional judges of the Karnataka High Court as permanent High Court Judges.

As per a notification dated September 6, 2021, the following judges have been appointed as permanent judges:

  • Justice Neranahalli Srinivasan Sanjay Gowda;

  • Justice Jyoti Mulimani;

  • Justice Rangaswamy Nataraj;

  • Justice Hemant Chandangoudar;

  • Justice Pradeep Singh Yerur; and

  • Justice Maheshan Nagaprasanna.

Justices Gowda, Mulimani, Nataraj, Chandangoudar and Yerur were appointed additional judges of the Karnataka High Court on November 7, 2019, following a Collegium recommendation passed on October 3 that year.

The same Collegium resolution had also proposed the name of Justice Nagaprasanna for appointment as a judge. This proposal was greenlit by the Central government on November 22, 2019.

A recommendation to make all six judges permanent High Court judges was made by the Supreme Court Collegium following a meeting on August 17, 2021. The Central government has now notified its concurrence with this recommendation.
