The Supreme Court on September 23 recommended the appointment of Justice Subhash Upadhyay, an additional judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, as a permanent High Court judge.

A statement issued by the Supreme Court said,

"The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on 23rd September 2026, has approved the proposal for appointment of Shri Justice Subhash Upadhyay, Additional Judge as Permanent Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand."

Justice Upadhyay was appointed as an additional judge of the Uttarakhand High Court on May 26, 2025.
