The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the appointment of five additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court as permanent judges.

The decision was taken by the Collegium at its meeting held on September 23, 2026.

The five judges recommended for permanent appointment are:

Justice Maheswara Rao Kuncheam;

Justice Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar;

Justice Challa Gunaranjan;

Justice Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma; and

Justice Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao.

The five judges are presently serving as additional judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The Collegium has now approved proposals for their appointment as permanent judges of the High Court.

Justices Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, TCD Sekhar and Challa Gunaranjan were elevated to the Andhra Pradesh High Court as additional judges on October 28, 2024.

Justices Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao, both drawn from the judicial service, were elevated as additional judges on January 24, 2025.
