Shashank Garg, a former partner with Advani & Co., has re-joined the firm as a Partner. Shashank will be in charge of the Delhi Office and replaces Apar Gupta, who had left the firm to set up his independent practice.

Shashank joins the firm from Suri & Co and specializes in dispute resolution and litigation. He has also been recently appointed Reporter of India Jurisdiction by the IBA Arbitration Sub-committee.

On his decision to move back to Advani, Shashank commented,

“For the last one and a half years, I have been focusing on dispute resolution (including commercial arbitration and mediation). Advani & Co specializes in this niche area. They have quality work, more than quantity, especially with respect to international clients. So I decided to come back and focus more on this area. It is like a homecoming for me.”

Shashank initially worked at Parag Tripathi Law Chambers, after which he set up Accendo Law Partners and later merged the practice with Advani & Co. He left Advani in January 2014 to join Suri & Co.

Managing Partner Hiroo Advani commented,

“We welcome him back. He has come back with a lot of experience working with another law firm.”

This is not the only development at the firm. Advani and Co. has formed a relationship with S Ramaswamy, former general counsel of the Escorts Group. Ramaswamy heads an online strategy and consulting portal by the name of Rambhaktaa Advisors.

According to the release, Advani & Co. and S Ramaswamy will be jointly approaching clients for large-scale company and commercial work, including M&A and private equity. Ramaswamy also plans to carry out his litigation and arbitration practice through Advani & Co.’s Mumbai and Delhi offices. He will be Senior Consultant at the firm and will mentor the corporate team.
