Former Tata GC Bharat Vasani joins Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as Corporate Partner

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, has inducted Bharat Vasani as a corporate partner of the firm, to be based out of the Mumbai office. Vasani is joining the firm on Monday.

Bharat Vasani left Tata Group in January after more than seventeen years at the helm of its legal team.

Prior to joining Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Bharat Vasani was Legal Advisor to Tata Group Chairman, having also in his earlier role been Chief Legal & Group General Counsel of Tata Sons Ltd, the holding company of Tata Group.

On his appointment to Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Bharat Vasani said,

“I have had a long standing relationship with Cyril and the firm and I am now very much looking forward to joining team CAM to bolster and enhance their already top of the line corporate practice offering.

I am excited about this new chapter in my life and look forward to contributing and adding value to the firm”.

Speaking to Bar & Bench, Vasani said,

“I am very delighted. I have been an in-house counsel all my life, so I will be bringing client’s perspective to the firm.”

Bharat has over 30 years of experience at senior management level, and has successfully built and managed the in-house legal departments of large multinationals. Bharat has been at the helm of and steered several large key M&A transactions pursued by the Tata Group in the last 17 years.

Bharat’s areas of specialization include Company law, corporate and commercial laws, securities law, capital market transactions, M&A transactions, JVs, Competition Law, Employment Law and property matters.

In 2010, Bharat has successfully completed his ‘Leadership in Corporate Counsel Course’ from the Harvard Law School and the M&A Training Course in 2017 from the Harvard Business School. Bharat also holds a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and First Class First Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Mumbai University.

On Vasani’s appointment, managing partner, Cyril Shroff said,

Earlier this month, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has set up a Corporate Governance Center (CAM – CGC), which will be led by former SEBI Chairman UK Sinha as “Senior Advisor” to the firm and the CAM-CGC.
