Centre clears appointment of Three Additional Judges to Gauhati High Court

The Centre has  appointed three Additional Judges in the High Court of Gauhati.

As per a notification issued on Saturday, the following names have been cleared for appointment as High Court judges.

  • Soumitra Saikia
  • Parthivjyoti Saikia
  • S. Hukato Swu

They have been appointed for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

These three names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in October.  With their appointment, the working strength of the High Court rises to 22 against a sanctioned strength of 24 judges.
